Good idea - I have a fork here where I'll implement your idea https://github.com/alexbelgium/BattyBirdNET-Pi |

I now have a fork which may be of interest to you Alex: https://github.com/stevedee/BattyBirdNET-Pi
So far, the only program files I've modified are: index.php, overview.php, views.php, todays_detections.php, daily_plot.py and the new image file is batRed.png. As I haven't tried an install, just adding these files may be the safest way to test. |

Uh oh!

BirdNet-Pi displays an overview, based upon a Day. This is OK for birds (...most of the time) but not for bats.
Bats are creatures of the night, so it makes no sense to terminate a day and start a new 'view' at midnight, when monitoring bat calls.
I've been running Batty for a week or so, and I love it. But the first thing I needed to address on day 1 was the Overview. So me & my imaginary friend set about hacking the code to make it 'night based'. For me, it was well worth the effort...
I've noticed a bit of chat on the BNP, BNG & BBNP forums about combining bats & birds in one program. This is not something I have a personal interest in; I want to use the right microphone for each application, and I don't fancy a trip to Bloatsville!
But I think such a combo might benefit either from night & day display modes, or possibly a rolling day.
BTW; I want to express my thanks & appreciation to Stefan Kahl, Patrick McGuire, Nachtzuster, Tomi Hakala, Richard Zinck & all contributors for the great work they have done, and for making it available to plebs like me. I never take it for granted.
