Video playback very laggy since update

Description

As far as I can tell my Pi3B+ autoupdated to 2026.6.1 and now the video playback is extremely jerky and sometimes cutting out the end/start of clips.
I am not 100% sure which version it was on previously, yesterday everything was ok and I now see the version has changed on my "System info" to the latest version. I wasn't aware that there is an autoupdate, but I assume there is one?
Possibly related to this I am unable to backup my content. "Get backup" is pressed it takes some time to begin a download, once this happens it never downloads and just times out.

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Reboot Anthias and allow to start displaying content.
2. Once content is showing videos are no longer smooth.

Expected Behavior

Smooth video playback as it was on older versions.
Backup is able to be downloaded.

Environment

• Device: Raspberry Pi3B+
• OS: Anthias installed through Raspberry Pi Imager (originally done mid 2025 or so)
• Anthias Version: V2026.6.1
• Installation Method: Raspberry Pi Imager

Is it consistent across all video assets, or only on some?

Thanks for the reply. By runtime do you mean system uptime? If so I tried completely shutting down and starting from scratch.

I will monitor more closely tomorrow, however I saw some videos appeared smooth but froze and then cut short towards the end. Others had jerky playback for the entire duration.

The installation I did through the Raspberry Imager.

I'm still struggling to see which type of video is problematic. Initially I thought it was 60fps videos, but I noticed that some 60fps seem to function. It might be that 60fps 1080p videos are now a problem.
Portrait videos are now stretched, which is also new.

I'm also running a Pi4 on a different TV that has also autoupdated. The videos play better than the Pi3, but are much jerkier than they were before.

Thank you. It would appear some videos are better but not smooth as they were. The cropping appears to be fixed.
It's hard to say but it looks like video assets are being cut short at the end. This is on the Pi3B+, I have not checked the Pi4

For example this format of video is extremely jerky. File size is around 21MB. 60fps as far as I can tell are the problem.
I have also noticed that I am unable to backup through the backup function. The download never begins.

Yeah, the 60FPS part is likely the issue. Can you try switching to the 64 bit version of the Pi 3 image. This would require reflashing, but it is using a newer software stack that isn't available for 32 bit Pi 3.

Thanks. Is there a way to force 64bit through the Pi Imager, or is the only option to install manually?
