Uh oh!

I am using Mayim as an extension to the Sanic web application framework. Both for the first time, so I may well be misunderstanding things.
Seems like it should work but I get an error
Failed to begin transaction txn_xxxxxxxx: Command execution failed on some connections: Failed to execute 'BEGIN ISOLATION LEVEL READ COMMITTED' on pool <SQLitePool ://None@None:None/None>: near "ISOLATION": syntax error. This seems to suggest that SQLite doesn't recognise the query it's being given, and according to the documentation, it wouldn't. I've had a look around and
BEGIN ISOLATION LEVEL...doesn't seem to be standard SQL. I wondered if it was a PostGreSQL extension, because Mayim seems to like PostGreSQL best, but it doesn't seem so.So my question is: How do I get transactions working with SQLite?
