OAuth token stops working

So I'm not absolutely certain of the interval but it's often enough to be a major hassle

But I'll go through the rigamarole of generating a twitch token, and entering it into Kodi, and it seems to work for a bit. Maybe a few weeks?

But then it'll just stop working, and the plugin acts as if I've never entered an Oauth key before.

Is the extension asking for temporary keys? If the keys expire, can't the extension automatically acquire a new one before it's too late and we have to step in? Or can the extension itself just handle the follows locally and save us from having to use oauth keys in the first place? Either way it's a major hassle and impacts the usability of the plugin.

Yes, oauth tokens expire, that's how it works unfortunately.
No they can not be automatically renewed. At least not without a major change to how this plugin works, like saving your actual Twitch username+password (yikes) and using that to request new oauth tokens. Or having you log in to a browser and extracting a token from there (don't know if that would even be possible within Kodi).

Twitch has limited their API in a way that makes it impossible to even watch streams without a token, so there really is no way around all of this. It's not optional. Again, except maybe for a major design change, possibly using inofficial APIs and/or violating twitch ToS

And as you may have noticed, there is no active development going on here, so even if this was a desired change, there is nobody here to do it.

For what it's worth, I was trying to write a bash script to retrieve a new token, and then one could run the script every 30 days as a cron job. But I haven't been able to extract the token using curl or wget.
