Support Bibliogon

Bibliogon is an open-source project developed by a single person. No cloud, no tracking, no ads - your books, articles, and writing stay on your device.

Development happens alongside parenting three children, one of whom requires ongoing medical and care support. Donations help carve out reliable development time despite a packed schedule. They go directly into Bibliogon work, not personal expenses.

If Bibliogon helps you and you would like to support its development, donations are very welcome. Several options are available:

Liberapay (recommended)

Privacy-friendly platform from the FOSS community. One-time or recurring, no platform fees, no account required for the donor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are donations used for?

Bibliogon is developed by a single person, alongside full-time parenting responsibilities including caregiving for a child with chronic medical needs. Donations cover:

  • Development time that would otherwise compete with caregiving and other obligations
  • Domain costs and hosting for documentation
  • Legal advice on privacy-related questions
  • Tools and licenses (e.g., code-signing certificates for desktop launcher distribution)

Recurring donations matter most because they translate into predictable development blocks. One-time donations help fund specific features and infrastructure costs.

Do I receive a donation receipt?

You receive a payment confirmation through the respective platform. Since Bibliogon is not a registered non-profit, donations are not tax-deductible.

What is the difference between recurring and one-time donations?

Recurring donations (via Liberapay, GitHub Sponsors, or Flattr) help plan development time long-term. One-time donations (via Ko-fi or PayPal) are equally welcome, especially when a specific feature has helped you.

Can I change or cancel my recurring donation?

Yes, anytime through the respective platform. All four recurring-donation platforms have account settings for managing subscriptions.

Are donations anonymous?

On all platforms, you can choose whether your name is displayed publicly. Bibliogon itself receives no donor information beyond what you actively choose to share.

Why no direct bank transfer?

For simplicity and privacy reasons. The platforms above cover all important payment methods and handle payment processing professionally.

Which platform should I choose?

  • Privacy-focused: Liberapay or Flattr
  • Developer community: GitHub Sponsors
  • Quick one-time support: Ko-fi
  • Widest reach: PayPal

All channels ultimately support the same project. Choose whichever fits you best.
