Hi Dwight — apologies, this went up as a near-duplicate of #946. I should have posted it there as a follow-up instead of opening a second thread. Rewriting it to be just the part that wasn't in the first one.
The thing I didn't raise in #946: the Facts query layer resolves which value is the fact, and does it carefully. But the resolved value doesn't carry a first_filed date or an original-vs-restated stamp, which is the same disambiguation problem one filing revision later — and it's the piece a backtester still has to solve downstream to avoid lookahead bias.
So a concrete offer rather than a suggestion: I'd be glad to write a short worked example showing the CC0 sample loaded alongside Facts output to illustrate that distinction. Example PR, or just a snippet in this thread — whichever is less intrusive. Equally happy to drop it if it's not a direction you want for the repo.
Sample is the same one from #946 (CC0, no signup): github.com/christianpichichero-max/pit-fundamentals
Disclosure unchanged from #946: I sell a commercial version at tradevodata.com. Nothing here is gated.
