So - imo the elephant in the room is having a guide that works while playing a channel. That essentially nukes like most of the frontend code and turns this into a react/spa project - which might defeat your whole idea of minimalism. however, as you start to pick up more casual users, i see it being a large request. then you could also allow custom stream counts so that people with more streams available to them can keep their old one up until the new one is locked (since you're going to have latency issues in browser with channel switching from what i can tell). not necessarily saying you have to go this direction if it clashes with your main premise of simplicity but if you do, i would think about doing it sooner than later just to have your architecture able to grow rather than accumulating tech debt w/ every new frontend feature. |

i just had a brainwave. What if we make the player be in the bottom right of what are otherwise the live/series/movies. then it can have a button which expands into that frame (and another which is fullscreen). this would be a minimal change, minimal ui, and also give you what you want. (we can also add hearts to channels, have them be moveable cards, and have hearts go to the top). wdyt? |

i think what you're proposing is that it reloads current channel in a small corner no matter what page you're on? the limitation still stands as needing a single iframe (which feels dirty but open to hearing from anyone who thinks it might be beneficial) that holds the player in the corner and swaps out the rest w/ the player able to expand itself. otherwise, you'll end up with having to reload the player (doable but still will end up with dead for the reload of the stream and more places for you to hit weird connectivity issues) whereas a true SPA will give you the "TV Guide" vibe if done right - and you can decide where you want the player to live or even have multiple options based on user pref. This weekend I might be able to dive in a bit to see how it would fit. yes an easy favorite system would be nice too. i was shocked there was nothing out there like this but didn't even think to build it tbh. good work so far though it's legitimately useful as is. i'll do my best to take a look at the code more in depth this weekend. |

Understood!
Given your experience do you think you could maybe draw some pictures to
describe a better UI? I myself am a math/backend guy so I dont know anyting
