This is a port of the original KSE by tk102 for Linux. Some assembly required. You can find the original in https://gitlab.com/kotorsge-team/kse
This is a quick-and-dirty hack made in a few hours. Probably there are errors. I just wanted to fix a small mistake in an ongoing save of KOTOR2 and spend a few hours messing with the original source code until it stopped showing errors. I'm sure there are omissions and missing features, but it worked enough for me and I thought it could be useful for someone else. No guarantee it will work for you.
It may also work on Mac OS if you mess with some paths.
You need an up-to-date Perl5 installation with Tk. On modern Linux distros (with GCC 14+ and Perl 5.38+), installing perl-tk via your package manager is recommended to avoid CPAN C compiler deprecation errors.
Arch Linux / EndeavourOS:
sudo pacman -S perl-tk perl-digest-hmac
cpan install Tk::Autoscroll Tk::DynaTabFrameUbuntu / Debian:
sudo apt install perl perl-tk libdigest-hmac-perl
cpan install Tk::Autoscroll Tk::DynaTabFrameFedora:
sudo dnf install perl-Tk perl-Digest-HMAC
cpan install Tk::Autoscroll Tk::DynaTabFrameCreate kse.ini in ~/.config/kse/. You can copy and edit kse.ini.sample:
mkdir -p ~/.config/kse
cp kse.ini.sample ~/.config/kse/kse.iniEdit ~/.config/kse/kse.ini with your text editor to set your game and save paths.
On the root of this repository, run:
perl -I. kse.plThe original README.md follows.
KSE is the save editor for KotOR and KotOR 2. This repository houses KSE's source code.
In order to build KSE, Perl5 and Qt are both required. Perl for KSE, and Qt for KPF. For best results, use Perl v5.28.1 (x64) and Qt 5.11.2 (MSVC 2017 x64)
KSE requires quite a few perl modules, so install all of the following using the cpan command. If any fail, try downloading a package from metacpan website and building it yourself.
The following modules are needed for KSE to run and build properly
- Data::Lazy
- Getopt::ArgvFile
- Module::ScanDeps
- PAR::Packer
- Tk
- Tk::Autoscroll
- Tk::DynaTabFrame
- Win32::AbsPath
- Win32::FileOp
With all perl modules installed and Qt installed (msvc2017) run build.bat to build KSE and KPF. clean.bat will clean KSE and KPF.
Building will output all binaries to a new dist\ directory, which can be used for distributing KSE.
To build a module package from cpan, open a command line in the folder with the module's source, making sure perl works and run:
$ perl Makefile.PL
$ gmake
$ gmake install- FairStrides - Current lead dev
- Pazuzu156 - Current KSE/KPF dev
- Chev Chelios - Original KPF author
- tk102 - Original KSE author
