@Crivella can we try with the lastest commit and hofully get both this and the easyconfig pr over the finish line?

This is already at the latest commit, the problem with that PR was the interplay with ADIOS2 and UCX.
Have to look at this better to recall what was going on, it has been a while.

I saw that a similar EC for ADIOS2 to the 2023b one i was working on got merged for 2025b with UCX on, maybe we could give that a try to see if the newer toolchains works better
