on Sep 2, 2026 I'm SO SORRY turns out I never actually included the fix in the latest release, I incorrectly tagged my commit for a different issue with this issue's ID, then later thought I'd fixed the issue even though I hadn't. This should be actually fixed for 1.6.5

No problem, I'll then try the new release.
Hopefully solved in 1.6.5! Please let me know if this is not the case!
