Steps to reproduce
Moonfin does not use custom Primary images for genre items in the Genres home row when the global home-row image type is set to Poster.
Steps to reproduce:
Upload a custom image to a Jellyfin genre as Primary, Thumb, and Banner.
Add the Genres row to the Moonfin home screen.
Set the home-row image type to Thumb.
The custom genre image is displayed correctly.
Change the image type to Poster.
Moonfin displays a generated or media-derived genre poster instead of the genre item’s custom Primary image.
I verified the Jellyfin image endpoints directly. Primary, Thumb, and Banner all return the same custom PNG with the identical SHA-256 checksum. Therefore, the images are stored and delivered correctly by Jellyfin.
The behaviour is identical in the Moonfin desktop app and on iPhone, using different client versions.
Expected behaviour:
When the Genres home row uses the Poster image type, Moonfin should display the genre item’s custom Primary image. It should not replace it with an automatically generated or representative media poster.
A separate per-row image-type setting would also provide a useful workaround, for example allowing Genres to use Thumb while other home rows continue using Poster.
