This is great!
I suggested a slightly more elaborate intro to give the casual reader a better idea of what Markdown is before diving into any of the links.

Sorry, making this more complicated ;-)
I realized that this would be a good place for better tie-ins to the Glossary.
Can you add an entry for Markdown to the Glossary source. Just borrow some of the same language used here for the glossary definition.

As discussed in #232, we decided to link to existing Markdown tutorials instead of writing our own. I included three resources with varying levels of detail, but we could add more. This closes #232 and supersedes #248.
