Timeout error on make validate with newly cloned repository #926

Description

@arthur-arwin

Failed to run 'make validate' on newly cloned repository.

Run 'make validate' on newly cloned repository and got the following error.
Image

OS: Mac OS 15.5
node: 22.5.1
npm: 10.9.2
go: 1.24.3

Cloned the repository with 'git clone https://github.com/TheThingsNetwork/lorawan-devices.git'.

Then run 'make deps' on the newly cloned lorawan-devices directory.

Finally, run 'make validate' and end up with the timeout error. The script ends on different location but the error is always script timeout and context deadline exceeded.
Process exited with code 1
2025/06/16 15:34:19 Script failed: error:pkg/scripting/javascript:script_timeout (script timeout) (error:pkg/errors:context_deadline_exceeded (context deadline exceeded))

Thank you! Any help is much appreciated.

@arthur-arwin thanks for reporting. What's your system in terms of hardware? See Apple -> About This Mac. Thanks.

Thanks. Do you get this error consistently?

The scripts are bound by some timeout that we also use in production. But if there's a lot going on on your machine, the script execution may be paused because tasks need the cpu time, so they may not finish within the timeout. It is therefore a bit flaky but I wouldn't expect this to happen on an M3.

Yes. I got this error consistently. But it exits at different points from time to time.

OK, I'll keep this open for now. I don't have a solution for this at the moment. If others encounter this, please chime in here.
