Conversation
HelpScout's links, `secure.helpscout.net/conversation/{ID}/{number}/`, are
all over Slack, Trac, and docs. Imported conversations keep HelpScout's
number but not its ID, so swapping in FreeScout's address opened nothing,
or the wrong conversation.
WPOrgSite now redirects `/conversation/{ID}/{number}` and `/conversation/{ID}`
to the conversation the HelpScout one was imported as, for agents who may see
it. It keeps its own table of HelpScout IDs, copied from the importer's and
added to as the importer saves more, so links keep working once the importer
is removed.

🟡 Changes recommended
The migration has a race-prone non-idempotent copy, and importer mapping write failures can leave permanent missing redirects.

Make the importer copy idempotent.
If an importer save occurs after the destination table is created and before copy_imported() runs, the saved listener can insert the same helpscout_id. The plain INSERT then fails on the destination table's primary key. A retry skips the copy because the table already exists.
Create the table only when it is missing, then always call copy_imported(). Skip IDs already present in the destination table. The importer schema makes conversation_id non-null, so no null-row filter is needed.

The middleware for `/conversation/{ID}` checked whether a FreeScout
conversation had that ID before core did, so every conversation view ran
that lookup twice. Let core answer first, and look the ID up as a HelpScout
one only when core has no such conversation. Viewing a conversation is back
to core's own queries, and a FreeScout conversation still can't be
redirected, which the new test checks.

Shorten the README section, the importer README and AGENTS.md entries, and the docblocks to what a reader needs. Drop the middleware's guest comment, which no longer explains anything now that it acts only on core's 404, and correct the migration's, which credited the importer with recording later imports. HelpScout's links to conversations,
https://secure.helpscout.net/conversation/{ID}/{number}/, are all over Slack, Trac, and docs. Imported conversations keep HelpScout's number, but not its ID. So swapping in FreeScout's address, as people have been told to, opens nothing, or a different conversation.WPOrgSite now redirects those links to the conversation the HelpScout one was imported as:
/conversation/{ID}/{number}is a new route. The number is ignored./conversation/{ID}is core's route. Where core answers with a 404, a middleware redirects instead, so viewing a FreeScout conversation runs no extra query, and one can't be redirected.wporgsite_helpscout_conversationstable, so links keep working once the importer and its tables are gone. The migration copies the importer's table; conversations imported later, like the Data and Plugins mailboxes' new ones, are added through theeloquent.savedevent of the importer's model, referenced by name only.Testing:
npm run freescout:testfromenvironments/(488 tests).HelpScoutLinksTestcovers both link forms (the full one with a trailing slash and HelpScout'sfolderId), a FreeScout conversation whose ID is also a recorded HelpScout ID, the 404 for an agent without access, and both ways IDs reach the table.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
