About switching computer login users

[Kalistaovo]

I am on the macOS 14 system. If I install it using the command-line version, will switching users affect my battery settings，Looking forward to your reply, thank you

@Kalistaovo It may. The app was designed for a single user scenario only.

You may end up running multiple battery background processes on behalf of each logged-in user, each trying to enforce its own user settings every minute. That may look funny unless they all enforcing the same settings.

I did not test this, but the possible workaround can be:

1. Use the command-line only battery as a single always logged-in (main) user only.
2. When you logged in as another (secondary) user:
   • Never execute battery in Terminal.
   • Never execute /Applications/battery.app .
Once you do execute any of them, the script will create ~/Library/LaunchAgents/battery.plist making the background battery process to be relaunched on each login and breaking your setup. The fix is to remove ~/Library/LaunchAgents/battery.plist for affected secondary user.

I would try to:

1. Remove /Applications/battery.app so you don't accidentally launch it as a secondary user.
2. For each secondary user, remove ~/Library/LaunchAgents/battery.plist. If you uninstall using battery uninstall or UI app - it will remove ~/Library/LaunchAgents/battery.plist for a current user only. So you have to manually remove all of ~/Library/LaunchAgents/battery.plist's which already exist in your system.
3. Reboot the system to terminate all secondary battery processes, or just kill them manually.

@Kalistaovo A hint: try creating a ~/Library/LaunchAgents/battery.plist folder for a secondary user. That can be a fail safe for accidental secondary user battery launches. It's just a guess based on current version sources, I did not test it.
