pdbApp/softMain.cpp is an older copy of database/src/std/softIoc/softMain.cpp ans requires an update.
It still calls epicsThreadExitMain here:

pva2pva/pdbApp/softMain.cpp

Line 264 in 8fa2313

epicsThreadExitMain();

Which is deprecated and will hang with the message epicsThreadExitMain() must no longer be used.
