[Bug report]: Event payload viewer renders JSON keys without quotes and has no copy button #2886

Description

Describe the bug

Two related issues with the event payload viewer on the Events log detail page:

  1. JSON property names are displayed without double quotes. All object keys in the event payload render as bare text without surrounding " quotes, so the output is not valid JSON — it looks more like a JS object literal. This is confusing because the actual payload sent over the wire IS valid JSON (Content-Type: application/json), but the viewer strips quotes from keys during rendering.

    What's shown:

    {
      item_descpion: "xxx",
      option_1_1: null,
      option_1_2: "1",
      option_1_3: null,
      ...
    }

    Expected (valid JSON):

    {
      "item_descpion": "xxx",
      "option_1_1": null,
      "option_1_2": "1",
      "option_1_3": null,
      ...
    }
  2. No copy-to-clipboard button for the event payload. There's no way to quickly copy the full payload — users have to manually select text in the code block, which is error-prone for large payloads and especially annoying when the keys lack quotes (you have to fix the JSON manually after pasting).

To Reproduce

  1. Go to Events log
  2. Click any event to open the detail sidebar
  3. Look at the Event payload code block
  4. Observe: keys have no surrounding double quotes
  5. Observe: no copy button anywhere in the payload viewer

Expected behavior

  • JSON keys should render with double quotes (standard valid JSON formatting)
  • A "Copy" button should be available in the top-right corner of the payload viewer (one-click copy of valid JSON)

The Event details panel showing keys without quotes and no copy button visible.

Environment:

  • Convoy version: v26.9.1
  • Browser: Chrome (latest)
  • Deployment: self-hosted

Additional context
Both issues are small but compound — not only can't you copy the payload in one click, but even if you select and copy manually, the result isn't valid JSON because the keys are missing quotes. You have to manually add quotes around every key before you can paste it into a JSON validator or curl command.

    Thanks for reporting this. We confirmed that the payload formatter removes quotes from JSON keys and that the viewer has no copy button. The quote removal happens when formatting the display. We’ll preserve valid JSON formatting and add a button to copy the full payload.

    Fixed in #2888. The viewer preserves quoted JSON keys, and the Copy button copies the complete payload, including when the viewer is collapsed.

    Available in v26.9.2, including getconvoy/convoy:v26.9.2 for AMD64 and ARM64.
