Version 2026.10.14 (2026-10-14)
europecv is an unofficial LaTeX implementation of the standard model for
curricula vitae (the Europass CV) as recommended by the European Commission.
Although primarily intended for users in the European Union, the class can be
used for any kind of curriculum vitae (possibly with the options notitle,
nobranding and nologo).
The class supports 27 languages (Bulgarian, Catalan, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, Galician, German, Greek, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish and Swedish), the self-assessment table of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and cross-referenced lists of publications, projects and awards. It works with pdfLaTeX, XeLaTeX and LuaLaTeX.

A minimal curriculum vitae:
\documentclass[helvetica,narrow]{europecv}
\ecvname{Surname, Name}
\begin{document}
\begin{europecv}
\ecvpersonalinfo
\section{Work experience}
\ecvitem{2020 -- today}{Job description}
\end{europecv}
\end{document}The full documentation is in europecv.pdf. Ready-to-use templates are in the
templates folder and further examples in the examples folder.

europecv is part of TeX Live and MiKTeX: use the package manager of your TeX
distribution to install or update it.
To install it manually, copy europecv.cls, the ecv*.def files, and the
logo and flag images (europasslogo.* and EuropeFlag*.*) into a directory
searched by TeX, e.g. TEXMFHOME/tex/latex/europecv/, and the documentation
into TEXMFHOME/doc/latex/europecv/. Alternatively, simply put these files in
the same directory as your CV.
The class needs a LaTeX kernel released on 2020-10-01 or later. It loads the
array, longtable, fancyhdr, etoolbox, graphicx and hyperref
packages and, depending on the options, inputenc, totpages, booktabs
and combelow. All of them are part of any TeX distribution.

Translations are written by volunteers: if you find a wrong translation,
please correct the corresponding ecv*.def file and open a pull request.
See CONTRIBUTING.md for the details.
The repository contains a Makefile:
make docbuilds the documentation;make checkbuilds the documentation, the examples and the templates, and compiles a test CV with every language option and with pdfLaTeX, XeLaTeX and LuaLaTeX;make ctancreatesbuild/europecv.zip, ready for the CTAN upload form. The archive is created withgit archivefrom the committed files, so that files not meant for CTAN (hidden files, theMakefile, the tests, ...) are excluded through theexport-ignoreattributes in.gitattributes.
Before a release, update the date and version in europecv.cls
(\ProvidesClass), in the ecv*.def files that changed (\ProvidesFile), in
europecv.tex (\date), in this file and in CHANGELOG.rst, then rebuild
europecv.pdf.
make ctancheck verifies that all these
versions agree and that the CTAN archive follows the CTAN rules.
The GitHub workflows in .github/workflows run automatically:
build.ymlcompiles the documentation, the examples, the templates and all the language options on every push and pull request;ctan.ymlbuilds and checks the CTAN archive (including CTAN'spkgcheck); pushing a tag named after the version (e.g.v2026.10.14) also creates a GitHub release witheuropecv.zipattached, ready for the CTAN upload;links.ymllooks for dead links in the documentation once a month;stale.ymlandwelcome.ymlmanage stale issues and greet new contributors.
All CTAN-related correspondence should be directed in English to ctan (at) ctan (dot) org, the common email address of all "CTAN people", rather than to an individual maintainer. Emails must be in plain text only (HTML is filtered out). Uploads must be done via the CTAN upload form, not by email. Please avoid sending large attachments to the CTAN address.
