Plexbmc helper stopped working

Hello, i am experiencing a issue with the plexbmc helper. I can connect and cast something and it will send that specific cast. But then i also get a message saying "Plexbmc helper has been stopped". This always happens on the first cast, i am then unable to cast anything else and lose the ability to pause or stop whatever that has been cast due to a lost connection.

If i disabled and enable the "app/addon/script" it will work again. Also restarting the PI will also solve the problem. Is there anything that can be configured to solve this issue?

There seems to be little activity on this project, has it been given up? I sincerely hope not since its a great addition to plex/media centers. I simply love it, and i want to thank you for creating it in the first place!

It's not abandoned but it's going to be December before I can justify looking at code that doesn't belong to my employer. I also don't know where Hippojay was on bringing the code into the main plexbmc project.

Alright, well its good to know and have some feedback as to where it is standing, if the code gets moved into the main plexbmc project that is also great. Thank you for taking time to answer :)

Let's hope you have some time in December or that it gets moved into the main project! Being able to cast straight from Plex or from other sources is super :)

Hi. I did produce a proof of concept for this which appeared to work. It needs some tidying up, but is definitely on the roadmap.

I've been trying to get back into this now - and the first thing is to fix the logged bugs and to get TLS working correctly - so that secure media access is completed. Once done, then the helper integration will start.

That sounds great! Glad to hear it :) Is there any timeline if I may ask? I will keep my eyes up for updates, really looking forward to it. Thanks for making such a great piece of software, and taking time to answer. :)

Hiya sorry for not being any more productive, but just wanted to add a "me too". I'm running PlexBMC on top of OpenElec/Kodi on a RasPi2 and seeing exectly the same behaviour as Vaear when casting media from either my MacBook Pro (using the web interface to Plex) or the Plex app on my iPhone.

Another "me too"! Curious as well whether this is a work actually in progress.. Or should we be looking for other solutions?

I've switched all my devices over to Plex Media Player running on openelec, and I have a lot of open projects for work, so I don't think I'll be digging in on this any time soon. Sorry. :(

Sadly i do not have the skill to pick this up, so unless someone else does it seems like this is dead :/ Too bad, it was an amazing addition to kodi/plexbmc, being able to cast from plex is gonna be sorely missed.

Is there anyone that has been able to figure this out? I've alternatively looked for plugins that will monitor and restart addons in kodi without any luck..
