TapRace is a competitive mobile tapping game built in Unity, designed to test a player's speed and endurance. Players tap the screen as fast as possible to achieve high scores, which are synced to global leaderboards. The game features multiple modes, a backend integration for player statistics, and multiplayer capabilities.
A high-intensity 5-second sprint.
- The player taps as fast as they can within a strict 5-second time limit.
- Tracks Total Taps and calculates the Taps Per Second (TPS).
- High scores are saved locally and synced to the cloud.
A test of stamina and consistency.
- The player must maintain a minimum tapping speed (e.g., above 8.5 TPS) to stay alive.
- The game tracks the total time survived in milliseconds/seconds.
- The longer you survive while maintaining the required speed, the higher your score.
- Backend Integration: Utilizes PlayFab SDK for user authentication (
PlayFabLogin.cs) and tracking global leaderboards/player statistics (e.g.,ClassicBest,EnduranceBest). - Multiplayer Ready: Integrates Photon (
PhotonLauncher.cs) to facilitate multiplayer functionality, allowing players to race against each other in real-time. - UI & Experience: Utilizes Unity's
TextMeshProfor crisp, dynamic score and timer updates. Local high scores are cached usingPlayerPrefsbefore syncing with PlayFab to ensure a seamless experience.
- Engine: Unity
- Backend & Leaderboards: PlayFab
- Multiplayer: Photon (PUN/Fusion)
The game was build with a 1 month deadline, mostly as a challenge, without internet access only using the offline Unity documentation (except for the auth & multiplayer logic), during the COVID lockdown of 2020. If you try it, have fun!
