IFTTT Webhook Frontend Workflow for Alfred

This workflow serves as a general-purpose frontend to control external services and smart home devices via IFTTT Webhooks directly from Alfred.

Without modifying any code, you can dynamically expand candidate items (Script Filter) simply by adding or editing Environment Variables in Alfred's GUI. It also offers the flexibility to execute unregistered events on the fly by typing them directly.

💡 Features

  • Zero-Code Endpoint Management: Add new actions effortlessly by simply adding environment variables.
  • Reduced Cognitive Load: Just type ifttt to list all registered actions, eliminating the need to memorize keywords.
  • Smart Direct Input: Unregistered event names can be typed directly and executed immediately.
  • Safe Parameter Transmission: Text after the event name is safely passed to IFTTT's value1 as a single string, preventing parsing errors from spaces or special characters.

🛠️ Setup

Registering your IFTTT Webhook Key

  1. Go to the IFTTT Webhooks Settings Page and click "Documentation".
  2. Copy the Webhook key string shown as Your key is: xxxxxx.
  3. Open the workflow configuration panel in Alfred and click "Configure Workflow...".
  4. Paste the copied key into the ifttt webhook key (cfg_key) field and save.

➕ Adding Actions (Events)

Add your favorite actions via the Environment Variables panel in Alfred:

Configuration Rules

  • Name: event_[IFTTT Event Name]
  • Value: Description to display as the subtitle in Alfred (e.g., Turn on living room light)

Examples

  • event_log_slack_cal: Send input text to Slack and Google Calendar (Triggers log_slack_cal)
  • event_wakeup: Trigger morning applet (No arguments) (Triggers wakeup)

🚀 Usage

Launch Alfred and type the keyword (Default: ifttt).

IFTTT Webhook

  2. Your key is: xxxxxx
  4. ifttt webhook key (cfg_key)

  • event_log_slack_cal: 第2引数の内容をslack、Googleカレンダーに送信 (log_slack_cal を呼び出す)
