Because we're doing it everywhere in the k0sproject org, and then disallow the usage of unpinned GitHub Actions in the repository settings. This prevents supply chain attacks via GitHub Actions in which malicious actors take over a GitHub Action repository and then rewrite all the existing tags to include whatever they want to have included: Exfiltrating credentials, embedding malicious code into the software being built, ... This has happened quite often in the recent past to various actions, and even twice to trivy. |
