YouTube LIVE streams unexpectedly end with "finished" while still live

Exception and Stacktrace

No exception or TrackException is emitted.

The LIVE stream starts playing normally, but after a while Lavalink emits a TrackEndEvent with:

reason: finished

The YouTube broadcast is still live at that point. Reloading the same URL immediately resumes playback, but causes a short ~1 second interruption.

YouTube LIVE playback was working normally with this same setup before the recent YouTube-side changes. This issue only started after those changes.

DEBUG logging shows that LIVE playback is using the WEB client. The stream URL contains source=yt_live_broadcast, live=1 and noclen=1.

Regular non-LIVE YouTube videos are working normally.

The 403 turns up about 30 seconds after the URL is issued, well before the expire it carries. Because the body is empty, processNextSegment reads it as an empty segment and state.finished gets set, which is why nothing is thrown and the reason is finished.

Opened #243 — it renews the URL on a 403 and asks for the same sequence number again, so playback carries on from where it stopped.

On main the same broadcast ends at 34s. With the change it played through 180s with 6 renewals, landing 30s apart.

Thanks for looking into this. You were right about the proof-of-origin token.

I tested the same LIVE stream using the remote PO-token implementation from #229 with a local WebPo token generator.

Before that, I was consistently getting a 403 roughly every 30 seconds, followed by LIVE_GAP / LIVE_REFRESH and an audible interruption.

With the remote PO-token setup, the same LIVE stream is now playing continuously. No more 403s, no 30-second refresh cycle, and no audible interruptions so far.

So it looks like the missing/invalid PO token was indeed the root cause in my case.

Update: After letting the same LIVE stream run longer, playback eventually stopped completely after about 53 minutes.

Just before the failure, the YouTube visitor ID was refreshed successfully. About 8 seconds later, playback failed with:

AllClientsFailedException: All clients failed to load the item.

The individual client failures were:

WEB — Something went wrong when decoding the track
ANDROID_VR — This video requires login
TVHTML5 — The page needs to be reloaded
TVHTML5_SIMPLY — HTTP 400
MWEB — Read timed out
WEB_EMBEDDED_PLAYER — Video player configuration error

Earlier during the same playback session I also got one:

got stuck! Threshold surpassed: 10000ms

The original regular ~30-second 403 / LIVE_REFRESH cycle is still gone with the remote PO-token setup, but the LIVE stream eventually fails in this different way.

Not sure if the visitor ID refresh is related, but the timing seemed worth mentioning.
