Web interface
E2iPlayer has a web interface. From a browser on your PC, tablet or phone you can browse hosts, search, start playback on the TV, queue downloads, change settings and get the debug log, without the remote control.
-
Your image needs the OpenWebif (or the old WebInterface) plugin. Almost every image has it.
-
In the E2iPlayer settings, Basic configuration, set Initialize web interface to Yes (it is off by default). See Settings explained.
-
Save and restart the Enigma2 GUI. The web interface is only started at GUI start.
-
Open in your browser:
http://<box-ip>/iptvplayerIf your OpenWebif runs on another port, add it:
http://<box-ip>:<port>/iptvplayer.
E2iPlayer does not open its own server. It runs as a part of OpenWebif, on the same address and port. If OpenWebif asks for a login, that login also protects the E2iPlayer pages.
The pages work on desktop, tablet and phone. The menu at the top is always the same:
Information · Hosts · ▶ active host · Search · Download manager · Settings · Logs
- The ▶ entry with the host name appears while a host is open, so you can get back to it from any page.
- Top right: the installed E2iPlayer version and the light / dark switch. The choice is remembered in the browser; on the first visit the page follows your system setting.
- Lists, filters and the open tab (e.g. the chosen host group) are remembered in the browser as well.
- Reloading a page or pressing Back in the browser never repeats your last click.
http://<box-ip>/iptvplayer/
- E2iPlayer: version and project information (the same as the About page of the Info screen on the box).
- Updates: compares your installed version with the current python3 branch on GitHub and shows how many commits you are behind and the list of what is new (merged pull requests with links). This check is made by your browser, so it needs internet access on the PC/phone, not on the box. A local build without a release tag shows "Installed version … has no release tag".
- System: image, box, Python, storage, debug log and the installed tools (hlsdl, ffmpeg, wget, curl, …), like the System page of the Info screen.
- Help: links to this wiki, the GitHub issues and the support forum.
-
Troubleshooting:
- Reset web interface: closes the host opened in the web interface, clears the search results and stops what the web interface still runs in the background. Use it when a page keeps loading. Settings, downloads and the E2iPlayer on the TV are not touched.
- Support package: see Logs.
- Restart GUI: restarts Enigma2 after a confirmation. Running recordings, playbacks and downloads are stopped.
http://<box-ip>/iptvplayer/hosts
- Shows the logos of all enabled hosts, in your host order (otherwise alphabetical).
- Groups: the same host groups as on the TV (All, the predefined and your own groups) as buttons above the list. A group shows its hosts in the group's own order.
- Filter: type part of a host name to narrow the list.
- Click a logo to open the host.
The local hosts (Local media, URL list) are not offered in the web interface.
- The header shows the host logo and the path (host → folder → …).
- Buttons: ← Back, Initial list, Reload list and Return to hosts list.
- While the host is loading, you see Loading data, please wait with the time so far and a Cancel button. Cancel waits until the host has finished its current request, then the list stays as it was.
- Click a folder to open it. Markers are shown as headings, articles show the description with picture and details.
- Search: hosts with a search function show a search field above the list. Hosts with several search types show one button per type. Your recent searches of that host appear as buttons below the field and as suggestions while typing.
- ☆ (star) on an entry: add it to the favourites. Pick one of your favourites groups or create a new one, just like on the TV. Only shown for entries the host allows as favourites.
- Click a video or audio entry to see its links (Links for "…"):
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Select | Resolves a link that is not final yet (e.g. a hoster page) into playable links. |
| ▶ Play on TV | Starts playback on the TV (see below). |
| Watch | Opens the stream address in a new browser tab. Many streams (HLS, protected links) will not play in a browser. |
| Add to downloader | Puts the link into the E2iPlayer download manager on the box. |
| Copy link | Copies the stream address to the clipboard. |
Downloads added from the web are saved in the downloads folder as
<title>.<ext>. If the download manager is stopped, the page tells you so. Start it on the download manager page.
▶ Play on TV starts the link in E2iPlayer's own movie player on the TV, the player you chose in Settings → Players & playback configuration, without buffering. The TV channel is stopped for it, and when you close the player, the channel comes back.
- Streams that can only be played with buffering (f4m and similar) are refused with a hint. Start them on the box.
- The button is not shown when the link needs Select first.
When a host would open a message on the TV while you use it from the web, the message is shown on the web page instead. Captchas and other windows cannot be shown in the browser. The page then tells you that this only works on the receiver (for captchas: on the receiver, or with MyE2i there).
http://<box-ip>/iptvplayer/search
- Enter a text and press Search. All enabled hosts with a search function are searched one after another.
- A progress bar shows which host is searched and how many are done. Stop ends the search.
- Filter buttons: Folders, Videos, Music and Only exact matches (only results whose name or description contains your text). The filters only change what is shown, not the search itself.
- The results are grouped by host. Click a result or Open in host → to open that host with the same search, and continue from there.
- PIN-protected hosts are skipped.
http://<box-ip>/iptvplayer/downloader
This is the same download manager as on the box. Items added on the TV show up here and the other way round. See Download manager.
- If it was not started yet, press Initialize Download Manager.
- ▶ Start / ■ Stop: starts or stops the queue. The status is shown as Manager status: STARTED / STOPPED.
-
Add link: paste any link (
http://orhttps://) and optionally a file name. Without a name, it is taken from the link. Links that can't be downloaded are refused with a message. - Downloads: the current queue with file name, address, size, percent, speed, the downloader and a progress bar. The page updates itself every 2 seconds.
- Archive: all video and audio files in the downloads folder that are not in the queue (mp4, mkv, ts, avi, mp3, …), with size and date.
Buttons per item, depending on the status:
| Status | Buttons |
|---|---|
| Pending | Move to top, Remove from queue |
| Downloading | Watch, Stop download |
| Aborted | Watch, Resume download, Delete |
| Downloaded | Watch, Download again, Delete |
| Download error | Download again, Delete |
| Archive | Watch, Delete |
Watch is only shown when the file exists in the downloads folder. An item of a batch download whose links are being looked up is listed as downloading; Stop download gives up the lookup.
- Watch here downloads the file from the box to your PC (via OpenWebif). This is the easiest way to copy a download to your computer without FTP. It only works for files in the E2iPlayer downloads folder.
- Resume download continues where the download stopped, if the downloader supports it (wget, curl, hlsdl). Otherwise it starts again from the beginning. Details in Download manager → Resuming.
- Delete asks first and deletes the file from the box.
http://<box-ip>/iptvplayer/settings
- All E2iPlayer settings in the same sections as on the box (see Settings explained), plus a Hosts section: every host with an on/off switch and, for hosts with their own options, an Options ▾ button (logins, quality, proxy, …).
- Filter settings: type a word to find an option.
- A change is saved immediately (switches and lists at once, text fields when you leave the field or press Enter). Passwords and API keys are never sent to the browser; their field stays empty ("unchanged"), leave it empty to keep the old value or type a new one.
- Options that only work after a GUI restart are marked needs a GUI restart. After changing one, a hint with Restart GUI now appears.
- PIN settings cannot be changed from the web (PIN codes and PIN protection on/off, including the PIN options of single hosts). They are shown with only on the receiver.
-
Folders without a drive: if you enter a cache, buffering or TorrServer cache folder that is not on a mounted HDD/USB stick (e.g.
/media/hddwithout a HDD), a notice tells you so: E2iPlayer would switch the folder back at the next start (the TorrServer cache stays in RAM). - Torrent playback: switching on Play torrents with TorrServer asks you to confirm the torrent warning first. If TorrServer is not installed, a notice shows how to install it (see Torrents with TorrServer).
- Settings protected by a PIN: when Pin protection for configuration (or for the whole plugin) is on, the web page shows the settings read-only.
http://<box-ip>/iptvplayer/logs
- Shows the E2iPlayer debug log live: new lines appear as they are written.
- Pause / Resume the live view, Follow (keep scrolling to the end), Only errors and warnings, a Filter field and Clear view (only clears the page, not the file).
-
Download log file saves the complete log as
iptv_dbg.txt, ready to attach to a bug report. - Older log files: the older files of the log rotation, each with its own download link.
- Delete log file deletes the log on the box (after a confirmation).
- Support package: one text file with the E2iPlayer version, the system information, the installed tools, the enabled hosts and the end of the debug log. Attach it to a problem report. Look through it before posting it, as the log can contain addresses of the sites you opened.
- If debug logging is off or set to console, the page says so. See How to create debug logs.
- One shared state: the web interface has no separate sessions. If two people use it at the same time, they share the same open host and search.
- Web and TV at the same time: browsing on the web and on the TV at the same time works, as the web interface uses its own host instances. The download manager, favourites and the settings are shared.
- A page keeps loading? Press Cancel, or use Reset web interface on the Information page. Every web action is written to the debug log (start, duration, error), which helps with bug reports.
-
PIN protection:
- With Pin protection for plugin switched on, hosts and search are not available on the web.
- PIN-protected hosts and folders stay closed with a message.
- Security: only the pages, the plugin icons and the web interface files are served, not the plugin's program files. Actions (settings, downloads, deleting files) are only accepted from the web interface's own pages, so another web site open in your browser can't trigger them. Still, anyone who can open OpenWebif can use the E2iPlayer pages: don't expose OpenWebif to the internet without a password.
