Using GridR with Condor

Derek Weitzel edited this page Jun 5, 2014 · 4 revisions

You may use GridR without Bosco by specifying service="condor.local". This will submit the job directly to the local HTCondor installation:

> grid.init(service="condor.local", localTmpDir="tmp")

Requirements on the worker node

Contrary to the bosco.direct service, the condor.local uses the locally installed R installation on the worker node. There are some things to note:

  • The R executable must be in the default path of the worker node.
  • If you are doing a parameter sweep with GridR, using the batch command, the GridR package must be installed on the worker nodes as well.

Using bootstrap with condor.local

If R is not installed on the worker node, or you would like to use your own version of R (with custom packages installed), you may use GridR's R-boostrap functionality in order to install R before executing your R script. Simply add boostrap=TRUE.

> grid.init(service="condor.local", localTmpDir="tmp", bootstrap=TRUE)

See #14 for more details on using boostrap with condor.local.
