I like code that is tested, documented and honest about its limits. Every repository below has a README that explains why it exists, a test-suite that runs in CI, and a short list of what it does not do.
| Repo | What it is | Stack | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| mcpcurl | curl for Model Context Protocol servers: list tools, call them with schema-validated args, run YAML test suites in CI, generate Markdown docs |
Python, typer, jsonschema | Works with stdio, Streamable HTTP and SSE; supports both mcp 1.x and 2.x SDKs |
| duraq | Durable job queue on a single SQLite file: leases with fencing tokens, exponential backoff, dead-letter, priorities, delays, thread-pool worker, CLI | Python, stdlib only | Race-tested with 8 concurrent consumers; CI on Linux, macOS, Windows |
| fastapi-readyz | Liveness, readiness and dependency health checks for FastAPI with concurrent probes, per-probe timeouts and cached reports | Python, FastAPI | Probes for SQLAlchemy, Redis, HTTP, TCP, disk; degraded vs unhealthy semantics |
| datapeek | Paste JSON or CSV, get a table, stats and a chart in the browser; share via URL fragment | TypeScript, React, Vite | Live demo; parsing and inference are pure TS with tests |
| Stockpile | Replicated inventory component plugin for Unreal Engine 5: stacks, capacity, weight, move/split/transfer, FastArray delta replication | Unreal 5.8, C++ | 9 automation tests, verified headless; server-authoritative with RPC fallback |
- Start from the failure modes, not the happy path: timeouts, lost leases, malformed input, SDK version drift.
- Keep the core as plain code with no framework dependency, then wrap it thinly (a router, a CLI, a component).
- Measure before claiming: throughput numbers in READMEs come from a script you can rerun.
- Small commits with messages that explain the decision, not just the change.
- Unreal Engine: gameplay systems, editor automation, plugin structure
- Python: asyncio services, CLIs, SQLite-backed tooling, MCP servers
- TypeScript: React front-ends, Vite, data handling in the browser
