It failed because one of our dependencies (https://github.com/snapappointments/bootstrap-select) has a hard requirement of jquery to be 1.9.1 - 3. The project received its last update 4 years ago with the release of a beta version. Since then it seems unmaintained :-(

This major version bump cannot be safely merged. A quick grep found more than50 of the :eq() pseudo-selector (removed in jQuery 4.0) so every DataTable row callback would break and this would just add to the issue @yubiuser said.

jQuery and packages depending on it are still used extensively. Getting rid of it would be a major migration, almost a rewrite.
