Inline images for text

Hello, I am aware that one can use matplotlib to generate a mathematical equation. Is it also possible to add an image like that in the middle of text like we do with inline math when using tex? If not possible directly, is it possible to do this by scaling the svg image somehow and specifiying its x and y coordinates correctly?

I have made some progress here. I can get the x position for my image as needed by using FPDF.get_x(). For the y position to insert an image I would like a clarification. Is it correct that the provided y value is for the bottom left corner of the image? Also, FPDF.get_y() returns the very bottom position of the line, how can I get the position of the baseline of the text so that I can align my image with it?

The image’s x/y coordinates refer to its top-left corner. get_y() returns the current cursor position, rather than the text baseline.

For text, cell() and multi_cell() provide new_x and new_y to control the cursor after rendering. cell() defaults to RIGHT/TOP; multi_cell() defaults to RIGHT/NEXT. If you set new_x/new_y to RIGHT/TOP is should give you good baseline coordinates to insert the image, but exact alignment of an equation requires accounting for any descenders or whitespace inside the image.

To continue after the image, save the cursor position and advance it by the image’s width. The object returned by image() exposes rendered_width and rendered_height, which are useful when one dimension is calculated automatically.
Be mindful of line and page boundaries: you’ll need to handle an inline image that doesn’t fit in the remaining space. With explicit x/y, image() won’t perform that layout for you.
