Build Failures in Visual Studio Projects and Win32 Builds

I'm opening this issue primarily as a notification to the community rather than expecting an immediate solution.
Issue Details
The Visual Studio projects and Win32 builds are consistently failing when using any of the latest versions of the library.
Additional Information
- Affected components: Visual Studio projects, Win32 builds
- Library versions tested: 1.20.3 and HEAD
- Error messages: builds fail on pthreads and socket library inconsistencies
This issue is intended to document the problem and alert others who may be experiencing similar build failures. If I have more time I might come back and solve the problem but I have decided to just use qemu on linux for iscsi support.
