I thought Firefox had an about:config configuration setting that controls whether it uses its own file selector or the OS's native file selector. The setting should be called ui.allow_platform_file_picker because that's what it's called in Thunderbird.

If this works, then it might explain why KGtk doesn't work with Firefox. Then again, it also means that it's not necessary to use KGtk with Firefox.

I didn't test it yet

I tested xdg-desktop-portal-kde and it works well with Firefox. I also read online that someone reported it works wth Libre Office (at least on Arch Linux).
