Software Architect Β· 21 Years in the Craft Β· Implementing AI into real systems . Distributed Systems Β· Bangalore, India
"Good architecture is not about chasing what's new β it's about knowing what's foundational."
I'm Manas Dash β a Software Architect with 21 years of hands-on production experience, currently at Tesco Technology, Bangalore.
My foundation is core computer science: distributed systems, event-driven architecture, API design, and system thinking. These aren't stepping stones for me β they are the work. I've spent two decades building systems that are resilient, observable, and maintainable at retail scale, serving millions of customers across one of the world's largest retailers.
I believe software and systems are the craft. AI is a powerful capability I apply through that craft β not the other way around. I am not building models or fine-tuning weights. I am implementing AI into real systems: integrating LLMs into production pipelines, designing agentic workflows, and making conversational AI a reliable component in distributed architectures β the same way I've integrated Kafka, Redis, or any other tool that earns its place.
My philosophy: understand the core deeply, apply the new deliberately, and share everything openly.
Currently focused on: AI-implemented systems Β· Distributed architecture Β· Engineering leadership Β· Knowledge sharing
Available for 1:1 guidance sessions and consultancy engagements. Grounded in 21 years of real delivery β not theory.
I work with engineers and developers who are:
- π Navigating the Senior β Architect transition β the shift from solving tasks to owning systems and influencing direction
- π§ Choosing depth vs. breadth β when to specialise in distributed systems, AI integration, cloud, or backend engineering
- π Learning to think in systems β design trade-offs, CAP theorem, event-driven vs. request-driven, and when each matters
- π Building a visible engineering profile β GitHub presence, technical writing, conference talks, and community work
- π’ Preparing for principal/architect interviews β system design rounds, trade-off articulation, and leadership conversations
- π± Early-career developers β how to go deep on core CS while staying relevant in a fast-moving industry
I consult on:
- ποΈ System & API Architecture β microservices, event-driven design, domain modeling, API gateway patterns
- π€ AI-Implemented Systems β integrating LLMs and agentic AI into production architectures as reliable, maintainable components
- π Distributed Systems β Kafka, Redis, Couchbase, eventual consistency, and supply-chain-grade reliability
- βοΈ Cloud-Native Engineering β AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CICD pipelines built for teams shipping at pace
- π Engineering Culture β code review standards, SDLC maturity, architectural decision records, and engineering principles
