HomeAssistant has the ability to install apps (formerly add-ons). The benefits of this are as follows:

• Turn key installation and configuration
• Runs on a platform with a very large existing audience
• HomeAssistant has an automated backup solution and apps and their data are included in the backup
• HomeAssistant apps run separately from HA itself and therefore continue to run even if HA restarts
