fix: move demo.py out of the marimo notebook folder - #809
Conversation
marimo 0.25 refuses to export plain Python scripts, so the book build
failed on book/marimo/demo.py ("is not a marimo notebook") once #808
bumped marimo. demo.py only regenerates the README image, so it moves
to book/scripts/ and gets its own test; the notebook test now asserts
every file in book/marimo exposes an app.

The test covers only the Ward portfolio helpers. It does not cover the

Unblocks #808.
Problem
The
book / buildjob on #808 fails after marimo goes 0.24.2 → 0.25.0:book/marimo/demo.pyis a plain script that regenerates the README comparison image. It is not a notebook. Older marimo exported it anyway, but 0.25 rejects it, and the book job exports every*.pyinmarimo-folder.Change
book/marimo/demo.py→book/scripts/demo.py. It sits at the same depth, soparents[2]and the../..uv source path still resolve.test_notebooks: it now asserts that every file inbook/marimoexposes a marimoapp, and a newtest_demo_scriptcovers the demo script.Verification
marimo==0.25.0 export html --sandboxsucceeds for both remaining notebooks (1_over_N.py,hrp.py)Once this merges, rebase #808 (
@dependabot rebase) and its book build should go green.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
