[Scheduled Tasks] Report layout: fit the migration scan, and give worklogs its ServiceNow shape - #3024
The mail was long and the orange banner did not line up with the table under it. Both had the same cause.
Why the banner looked wrong
The shell is an 800px card with 50px of padding each side, so the nine-column table had 700px to fit in. A table cannot shrink below its content width, so it overflowed the card — rendering wider than the banner, which is the misalignment. The banner was never the odd one out; the table was escaping its container.
Changes
1100px across the whole shell — banner, body and footer use the same cap, so the banner matches the card instead of sitting narrower than the table beneath it.
Body gutter 50px to 24px, so the extra width reaches the table rather than the margin.
Rows tightened — cell padding 8px to 4px and an explicit 16px line-height.
No wrapping on four columns: both timestamps, the WSO2 ID and the assignee. A WSO2 ID broken mid-identifier (EUREKOPROD- / 126) helps nobody and cost a line on every row.
Measured
Rendered a 23-row fixture headless and printed it: four pages to three.
Rows are still two lines wherever the account manager and technical owner both appear — that column needs about 240px and will not fit on one line at this width. It sets the row height, so shortening anything else gains nothing. Going wider than 1100px or dropping a column would be the next lever; neither felt worth it without someone asking.
Template and renderer only. No change to what the report selects or reports.
Migration case report emails now use a wider layout with more compact spacing. Key case details stay on a single line, and customer comments are easier to scan.
Worklog report emails now present summary metrics and team and work-type breakdowns in cards, with grouped developer details and issue links. The wider layout and improved dark-mode styling make the report easier to read across screen sizes.
The report has nine columns and the shell gave them 700px: an 800px
body with 50px of padding each side. A table cannot shrink below its
content, so it overflowed the card and rendered WIDER than the orange
banner above it -- which is what the misalignment was -- and every cell
wrapped onto two or three lines.
Widened the whole shell to 1100px, banner, body and footer alike, so
the banner matches the card rather than sitting narrower than the table
beneath it, and cut the body gutter from 50px to 24px so the extra
width reaches the table instead of the margin.
Tightened the rows: cell padding 8px to 4px, an explicit 16px
line-height, and no wrapping on the four columns that are single tokens
or fixed-width values -- both timestamps, the WSO2 ID and the assignee.
A WSO2 ID broken mid-identifier helps nobody and cost a line on every
row.
Measured on a fixture of 23 rows rendered headless: four pages to
three. Rows are still two lines where the account manager and technical
owner appear together, which needs about 240px and does not fit on one
line at this width; shortening anything else gains nothing while that
column sets the row height.

The migration case report email uses wider containers and tighter table spacing. The worklogs report replaces row-based summaries and separate breakdown tables with a metric grid, breakdown cards, and grouped team sections.

Migration report layout and table rendering operations/csm-scheduled-tasks/internal/notify/migration_case_report.go, operations/csm-scheduled-tasks/internal/notify/templates/migration_case_report.html
Migration rows use tighter padding and prevent wrapping in selected columns. The email template widens its containers and reduces spacing in its header, content, tables, and footer.

Summary
Report template and rendering helpers operations/csm-scheduled-tasks/internal/notify/worklogs_report.go, operations/csm-scheduled-tasks/internal/notify/templates/worklogs_report.html
The template uses summary-grid and breakdown placeholders. The renderer adds shared card and pill-row helpers. The template also changes spacing, container widths, mobile padding, and dark-mode styling.
Summary grid and breakdown cards operations/csm-scheduled-tasks/internal/notify/worklogs_report.go
The summary shows four measures. Five breakdown cards show members, issues, approved time, pending time, and total time. A no-time message appears when teams and work types are both empty.
Team statistics and developer tables operations/csm-scheduled-tasks/internal/notify/worklogs_report.go
Team sections use a team-stat strip and grouped approved-issue and pending-issue columns. Daily and weekly fields and developer issue links remain.
Some worklogs metrics may be difficult to read, and daily emails no longer show the report-wide on-leave count. These bounded issues should be corrected or explicitly accepted before merging.

The CS Worklogs mail was a stack of plain two-column tables. The report
it replaces presented the same numbers as a stat grid, a card per
measure holding one tile per team, and a section per team -- a shape
people have read every morning for years. This adopts that structure in
WSO2's palette rather than ServiceNow's navy.
Nothing new is fetched. Every figure the original shows was already in
the API response: the per-team tiles come from the Teams slice, and the
per-type ones -- Incident, Query, Security Report Analysis -- from
ByType, which already carries issue counts and hours per work-item
type. No entity-service change, no new field.
Three things worth a reviewer's eye:
Tiles are a pair of cells in one shared two-row table, not a table
each. Rendered individually, a team name that wraps -- "Americas CS
Team - Integration" always does -- pushed its own value bar down and
left the row ragged.
Header cells are <th>, not <td>. The template's dark-mode block styles
.reportTable th; a <td> header would have kept its light background
while the blanket `p, li, td { color: #e2e2e2 }` rule lightened its
text, which is unreadable.
The stat grid and team strip set light backgrounds inline and so need
their own dark-mode overrides for the same reason. Text on the cards
inherits rather than pinning a light-mode slate. Checked both schemes
headless.
Cadence handling is unchanged: the daily keeps Leave and Disapproved
Entries, the weekly Worked Days and Avg. Hrs/Day.

[Scheduled Tasks] Fit the migration scan to its table
[Scheduled Tasks] Report layout: fit the migration scan, and give worklogs its ServiceNow shape
Oct 26, 2026
Added a second commit: the CS Worklogs report now follows the layout ServiceNow used, in WSO2's palette rather than its navy.
It was a stack of plain two-column tables. The original presents the same numbers as a stat grid, then a card per measure holding one tile per team, then a section per team — the shape people have read every morning for years.
Nothing new is fetched. Every figure the original shows was already in the API response: per-team tiles come from Teams, and the per-type ones (Incident, Query, Security Report Analysis) from ByType, which already carries issue counts and hours per work-item type. No entity-service change.
Three details worth a look:
Tiles share one two-row table rather than being a table each. Rendered individually, a team name that wraps — Americas CS Team - Integration always does — pushed its own value bar down and left the row ragged.
Header cells are <th>. The dark-mode block styles .reportTable th; a <td> header keeps its light background while the blanket p, li, td { color: #e2e2e2 } rule lightens its text, which is unreadable.
The stat grid and team strip needed their own dark-mode overrides for the same reason, and card text now inherits instead of pinning a light-mode slate.
Verified by rendering headless in both colour schemes against the figures from a real delivered mail (6 members, 11 issues, 24.92h, the same five teams), so the structure can be compared against the original side by side.
Cadence handling is unchanged — daily keeps Leave and Disapproved Entries, weekly keeps Worked Days and Avg. Hrs/Day.

reports, after closing the existing value row and before closing the table;
leave weekly output unchanged.
