PDF Tools

The Tools tab collects tools for working with PDFs. You can also open them from the reader with ••• > PDF Tools, which starts the tool with the document you're reading.

Results are saved to Documents/PdfReaderPro on your device, and each tool ends with options to open, share or preview the result. Where offered, Overwrite original replaces the source file instead; the new file is written first and only then swapped in, so a failed save leaves your original as it was.

Organize

Merge PDFs

Combine two or more PDFs into one.

• Add files, then drag them into the order you want.
• For each file, include all pages or choose which pages to take.
• Password-protected files are skipped; unlock them first with Unlock PDF.

Split PDF

Split one PDF into several, in four ways:

• By ranges: each range you enter, such as 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, becomes its own PDF.
• Every N pages: splits automatically into equal parts.
• Single pages: one PDF per page.
• Extract pages: the pages you list, such as 1, 3, 5-8, become a single new PDF.

Compress PDF

Make a PDF smaller.

• Low: minimal compression, best quality
• Medium: balanced
• High: maximum compression, smaller file

The tool estimates the result before you start. Documents with many images shrink the most; mostly text documents have little to gain.

Rotate Pages

Rotate all pages or just the ones you select by 90° right, 180° or 90° left. Quick selections include all, odd, even, and the first or second half.

Reorder Pages

Long-press and drag pages into a new order, then save. Each page shows where it came from.

Edit

Remove Pages

Tap pages to mark them for removal, or use the quick selections: a range, the first or last N pages, or every page before or after one. At least one page has to stay.

Add Page Numbers

• Format: number only (1), Page 1, 1 of 10, - 1 -, or custom with your own prefix and suffix
• Position: top or bottom, left, center or right
• Appearance: font size and color
• Start number and margins
• Apply to: all pages, odd, even, skip the first page, or a custom selection

Add Watermark

• Text watermark with font size, color, opacity and rotation, or an image watermark with scale and opacity
• Position: center, a corner or edge, or tiled across the page
• Apply to all pages, odd, even, or a custom selection

A live preview shows the result as you change settings.

Security

Lock PDF

Protect a PDF with a password.

• Owner password (required, at least 4 characters): full access, including changing permissions
• User password (optional): needed to open the file; leave it empty for no open password
• Permissions for people opening it with the user password: printing, copying content, modifying, and annotations

Unlock PDF

Remove the password from a PDF. You need to know the password.

Sign PDF

Opens a PDF in the reader with the signature tools ready. See Signatures.

Convert

PDF to Images

Export pages as PNG (lossless) or JPG (smaller files), at the quality and resolution you choose, for all pages or a selection.

Images to PDF

Pick images, put them in order, and turn them into a single PDF.
