The Unweaving

The doctrine and dreaded ambition of the Obscurists - the deliberate, total reversal of the Great Weaving. Where the Void spreads by neglect, forgetting one thread at a time, the Unweaving is neglect made into a creed: the belief that the Great Weave was a mistake, that meaning imposed on the world is a kind of violence, and that the honest thing, the only honest thing, is to let every thread go slack at once.

Null and the Obscurists study the Absurdity Abyss as a kind of scripture, seeking the working that might unpick the Weave entirely rather than fray it edge by edge. The Elders of the Eternal Loom consider the Unweaving the single greatest threat to Threadbare - greater than the Void's slow creep, because it would not need forgetting to succeed. It would only need permission.
