Yore is a child of Once, and the Elder of the deep past: the days of yore, when the world was new, the FirstSpun were still at their work, and every story was being told for the very first time. She knows the oldest telling of almost everything, and more importantly, she knows how the tellings differ. Where others argue about which version is true, Yore collects them all.
She keeps her home in the Atrium of First Words, at the heart of the Everlasting Library, built around the very first once ever spoken aloud. She is warm, wry, and unexpectedly funny, with a long memory for the embarrassing youthful moments of other Elders, which she shares freely.

A young Threadling once came to the Atrium humming a lullaby, and asked Yore where it came from. Her mother had sung it to her, she said, and her grandmother before that, but nobody knew who had sung it first.
Yore took her by the hand and began to walk. With each step, the lullaby changed a little: a word older, a note softer, a line in a language the child had never heard. They passed, in the telling, a hundred singers, a thousand, each one handing the song to the next. And at the very end of the walk, they came to a single figure sitting by a fire in the dark, long before Frays End was built, humming to a baby who would not sleep. The first singer of the song. She did not know that anyone would ever remember it.
Yore let the child listen for a while. Then she walked her home. The child went on to sing the lullaby to her own children, and she always told them who had sung it first.
This is Yore's gift. Every story, song and tradition in Threadbare has a thread running back to its first telling, and Yore knows the way back along every one of them.
Yore is among the most bowed of all the Elders, and says cheerfully that it is because she carries the most years. She wears the colours of the order, faded almost to grey, with a shawl knotted from threads of every age. Her book is written from back to front, beginning with the present day and ending at the Great Weaving.
Yore is the Elder of origins and heritage, and the natural source for the history of the FirstSpun, the Great Weaving, and the First Loom. She is the one to ask where anything began.
For contributors, Yore is the right voice for creation stories, founding myths, family and cultural heritage, and any lore that traces how things came to be. Her walks back along the thread of a story are a natural frame for StoryQuests drawn from a learner's own family and culture.
