Zoom Toggle: Alt+Shift+E and Alt-click cancel it and keep the current view - #1101
On main, Zoom Toggle can only be turned off by going back to the view it stored: E (with Commands focus) and the Zoom Toggle button both restore the earlier zoom, scroll and track heights. The reference guide (Pro Tools Reference Guide 2020.12, Chapter 29, "Zoom Toggle", page 627) says: "Press Option+Shift+E (Mac) or Alt+Shift+E (Windows) to cancel Zoom Toggle without reverting to the previous view", and that an Option-click (Mac) or Alt-click (Windows) on the lit Zoom Toggle button clears the stored Zoom Toggle state. The guide is at https://web.archive.org/web/20210805202452/https://resources.avid.com/SupportFiles/PT/Pro_Tools_Reference_Guide_2020.12.pdf.
New command view.zoom_toggle_cancel (Cancel Zoom Toggle, Alt+Shift+E) in crates/engine/src/cmd/zoom_toggle.rs. It clears the stored view and leaves the zoom, the scroll and the track heights as they are. With Zoom Toggle off it does nothing.
An Alt-click (Option-click on a Mac) on the Zoom Toggle button runs the same command.
The Edit window also keeps its vertical scroll: SoundApp::run drops the scroll position Zoom Toggle would restore, so a cancel from a key, the button or the control channel behaves the same.
The next Zoom Toggle zooms in from the current view and goes back to it.
ROADMAP.md gets a progress log line and a revision row, and its header names this change. docs/ui-parity.md gets a Zoom Toggle row and a revision row.
Each new test fails on main:
cancel_keeps_the_zoomed_view_and_the_next_toggle_zooms_in_again (engine): after a cancel the zoom, scroll and heights stay zoomed in, a second cancel does nothing, and the next toggle goes back to the view after the cancel.
alt_shift_e_and_an_alt_click_cancel_zoom_toggle_and_keep_the_zoomed_view (UI, Mac, Windows and Linux): Alt+Shift+E and an Alt-click on the button turn Zoom Toggle off, the zoom, the track rows and the vertical scroll stay as they were, and the next toggle in and out comes back to that view.
Checks:
cargo test -p soundcraft-engine --lib zoom_toggle: 3 passed
cargo test -p soundcraft-ui-egui --test it zoom_toggle: 2 passed
cargo xtask assets, cargo xtask layers, cargo xtask parity and cargo xtask wasm: ok
On Windows 11 (x86-64) with rustc 1.99.1, on top of main at 1c63b2a, with #998 merged in without its crates/engine/src/io.rs and xtask/src/main.rs changes (they conflict with main) and SOUNDCRAFT_NO_SYSTEM_PLUGINS=1 set:
cargo xtask ci passed its 7 steps on the branch before the merge of main: 1,440 tests passed, 0 failed, 1 ignored.
After merging main at e82c168 (head 1ffc164), on Windows 11:
cargo test --no-fail-fast -p soundcraft-engine -p soundcraft-ui-egui -p soundcraft-automation -p soundcraft -p soundcraft-cli -p soundcraft-web: 929 passed, 3 failed. … view
Cancel Zoom Toggle (view.zoom_toggle_cancel, Alt+Shift+E, Option+Shift+E
on a Mac) turns Zoom Toggle off without going back to the view it
stored: the zoom, the horizontal and vertical scroll and the track
heights stay as they are. An Alt-click (Option-click) on the Zoom Toggle
button runs the same command. The next Zoom Toggle zooms in from the
current view and goes back to it.
When the command runs, from a key, the button or the control channel,
the Edit window clears the vertical scroll position that Zoom Toggle
would restore.
Zoom Toggle can now be canceled with Alt+Shift+E or Alt-click. Cancellation clears the saved toggle and, when a saved view existed, the saved zoom-back scroll position. The current view remains unchanged, and subsequent toggles use the current view.
Changes: Zoom Toggle cancellation

Summary
Cancellation command and behavior crates/engine/src/cmd/zoom_toggle.rs
The engine registers view.zoom_toggle_cancel with the Alt+Shift+E shortcut. The command discards the saved toggle view, leaves the current view unchanged, and reports whether a saved view existed. A test covers repeated cancellation and subsequent toggling.
UI inputs, state clearing, and coverage crates/ui-egui/src/edit_window/scroll.rs, crates/ui-egui/src/app/commands.rs, crates/ui-egui/src/edit_window/layout.rs, crates/ui-egui/src/edit_window/tests.rs, crates/ui-egui/tests/it/zoom_toggle.rs, ROADMAP.md, docs/ui-parity.md
Alt-click invokes the cancellation command. When cancellation succeeds and a saved view existed, the UI clears the saved zoom-back scroll position. Tests cover both cancellation inputs across Mac, Windows, and Nix, plus cancellation when the toggle is already off. The roadmap and parity notes document the behavior.
Alt+E can unexpectedly cancel Zoom Toggle and discard its saved state. Restrict cancellation to Alt+Shift+E before merging.
Security architecture risk: Minimal · up to dcdcc
The new command discards the saved zoom-back view while preserving the current view. The reviewed changes do not expand network access, grant privileges, or introduce a material security risk.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — A client able to reach the existing control port can invoke the added command for the running application's current session. The new handler's effect is limited to discarding saved Zoom Toggle restoration state; it adds no file, credential, plugin, or external-service operation.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The control listener remains bound to 127.0.0.1 and retains its existing connection and request-queue bounds. Its generic command forwarding is unchanged between the supplied base and head. Loopback binding limits direct network exposure but does not establish client identity; this PR leaves that existing trust model unchanged.

Merged main at e82c168 (head 1ffc164). The conflicts came from main splitting edit_window.rs and lib.rs: the Alt-click check moved to edit_window/scroll.rs, forget_zoom_back to edit_window/layout.rs, and the cancel handling to app/commands.rs. ROADMAP.md and docs/ui-parity.md keep both sides' entries. The branch merges cleanly with main at e82c168.
Checks after the merge: fmt clean; clippy on soundcraft-engine and soundcraft-ui-egui exit 0; tests of those crates and their dependents 929 passed, 3 failed (three soundcraft-cli port tests that also fail on main at e82c168 on Windows); cargo xtask assets and layers ok. The cargo xtask ci result in the body is from before the merge; it is ticked again once this pull request's gate check passes. Integration PR #1107 picks up the new head at its next refresh.

Cancel Zoom Toggle clears the saved vertical scroll only when it turns
Zoom Toggle off, so a cancel run before the next frame after turning it
off no longer drops the scroll position the toggle-off restores.
The fixed shortcut handler catches every Key::E before registered shortcuts. Therefore, Alt+E calls zoom_toggle, whose Alt-only guard runs view.zoom_toggle_cancel. This cancels Zoom Toggle even though cancellation is documented and registered only for Alt+Shift+E. Restrict the fixed handler to plain E so Alt+Shift+E reaches the registered command and Alt+E does not cancel. This preserves Alt-click cancellation.

Restrict the fixed Key::E handler to unmodified E by applying the existing
plain-modifier condition in the shortcut dispatch; this lets Alt+Shift+E reach
its registered command and prevents Alt+E from invoking zoom_toggle’s
cancellation path, while preserving Alt-click cancellation.

Pushed dcdcca4: Cancel Zoom Toggle now clears the saved vertical scroll only when it actually turns Zoom Toggle off. Before, a cancel with Zoom Toggle already off, run before the next frame after turning it off, dropped the scroll position that turning it off restores. The new test a_cancel_with_zoom_toggle_off_keeps_the_scroll_to_restore covers it.
Checks on Windows 11 with rustc 1.99.0: cargo fmt --all -- --check, cargo clippy -p soundcraft-ui-egui --all-targets -- -D warnings, and cargo test -p soundcraft-ui-egui (389 passed) pass. The branch still merges cleanly with main at e82c168.
On the E shortcut: the Key::E arm is in commands_focus (crates/ui-egui/src/shortcuts.rs:352), not in fixed. commands_focus runs only when no Alt, Ctrl or Command modifier is held (shortcuts.rs:228-233), and its _ if shift => return false arm (shortcuts.rs:315) returns before Key::E when Shift is held. Alt+E therefore does not call zoom_toggle, and Alt+Shift+E reaches the registered view.zoom_toggle_cancel shortcut, which tests/it/zoom_toggle.rs presses. No change is needed.
